EDMOND, Okla. - In this tidal wave of frenzied parents and disheveled children, Staci Amy is a life vest of compassion.

Every weekday, Amy greets every child at Centennial Elementary in Edmond with a hug and a smile.

"People get so crazy in car line, but we have the best parents, the best kids, the best school," Amy said. "I'm so thankful to be a part of that for the last six years."

Beyond her car line duties, Amy quietly serves the school's 'Pass It On' program.

She distributes food and clothes to children in need.

"The other day, one little kid got out of car line and didn't have shoes. I said 'Go to the Pass It On closest, and they'll have some shoes for you,'" Amy said. "He came back and wanted to keep the shoes and, of course, we let him."

It is Amy's commitment to kids that inspired fellow parent Dennis Barry to nominate her for Pay it 4Ward.

"It's just so cool. She hugs them, all of them, tells them to have a great day, smiles," Barry said. "She just starts everyone's day off on the right foot rain or shine."

Clint Stone with First Fidelity Bank provided us with $400 to Pay it 4Ward to Amy.

"This is one of the best school districts in the Midwest, and part of that is because of people like Staci," Stone said. "So, on behalf of First Fidelity, I'm thrilled to give you 400 to Pay it 4Ward."

We surprised her outside Centennial Tuesday morning.

The teary eyed, grateful volunteer refused to accept the money.

She, in turn, donated the cash to the school she has served diligently.

"We are going to give this right back to Centennial," Amy told the principal. "That's what we're going to do, because they need it the most. Do great things with that."

It will be invested in the children, just has Amy has done for six wonderful years.
