On January 2, 2019, Moody’s withdrew Mount Vernon’s credit rating for what it called “insufficient information” about the city’s financial condition. Failure by the Comptroller and City Council to fund a key audit has made it impossible for the city to close its books and for Moody’s to provide a true credit rating analysis for the city.
On Tuesday, January 15 and AGAIN on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, the obstruction continued. Comptroller Reynolds and Council President Wallace misled the public by telling the news they did not know why the URA Audit was not done... when in FACT before their news appearances... Reynolds and Wallace chose to NOT vote on funding the URA audit because the Mayor proposed it (and the record is clear that the Mayor has attempted to get them to do their jobs and help complete the audit for the past few years but they continually refused). TRUTH - No action and false talk by Wallace and Reynolds has hurt Mount Vernon. Moody’s needs this information to restore our beloved City’s credit rating.
